Most of the characters in this book are superficial and that was a deliberate choice from Jennings. I would have preferred to read them as separate stories but they could have been edited and connected together to form a novella if that’s what Jennings wanted to do. I did enjoy this short book but it definitely felt like a collection of short stories rather than a coherent novella.
